Hiking in Germany & Luxembourg, Part 2

A month ago, I was out in the beautiful countryside of Germany and Luxembourg. That meant lovely walks, challenging hikes, breathtaking views, and visits to charming little towns. 😉 I tried to film the most beautiful spots and the most impressive natural wonders from each walk. With this video, I can share with you a glimpse of all the splendor that nature has to offer.

These are two beautiful hikes we went on during the second week of our hiking vacation. Next week, we’ll share the final part, featuring two more beautiful hikes and a fun outing. Enjoy watching! 

In this post, you’ll find some photos to give you a feel for the area, a description of each hike, and a map showing the hiking route. To choose our routes, we used theOutdoorActiveapp. You simply enter the name of the place you want to visit, and the app shows you the hiking routes that run in or through that region. I highly recommend it! The maps you see below are screenshots from the app. I’ll also include the name of each hike so you can easily find them if you want to try them yourself. 

• Wolfsschlucht (6.9 km)

This hike gets off to a spectacular start with a staircase that takes you up through the rocks. From up high, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the rocks and forests. You then continue through a forest where the vegetation is so unique that, for a moment, you’ll feel as if you’re in a tropical rainforest. 

• Grevenmacher (9.1 km)

The hike begins here with some sightseeing through the town of Grevenmacher. This is followed by a short but very steep climb up to the vineyards higher up. From there on, it’s pure enjoyment, in a landscape that seems to be a mix of Italy, France, and a complete fairy-tale world. Somewhere along the way, you’ll also pass through a forest, which adds another dimension to the views on the hike. The scenery on this hike is completely different from any other we’ve done, and it was truly special and absolutely beautiful. We highly recommend it!

Fun story: While we were walking there, work was being done in the woods to prevent dangerous situations caused by fallen trees and the like. Zara, our border collie, was of course along for the walk. When we got to the woods, she wouldn’t go any further because the sound of the machines scared her. So we had to ask the people working there if they could turn off all the machines for a moment so we could get past with Zara. Fortunately, they didn’t make a fuss about it and were also super nice to her. Thanks to these friendly people, we were able to continue our walk.
