Oatmeal with cranberries

Oatmeal with Cranberries and Cinnamon

The morning is my favorite time of day. I really enjoy getting up early and having the time to start my day calmly with some yoga. It makes me so happy when I have the time to leisurely make breakfast. And I feel so grateful when I can go outside to feel the morning sun on my skin, let its warmth wash over me, and feel with every fiber of my being: today is going to be a beautiful day.

But sometimes the morning involves getting up (extra early) in an attempt to finish all the work you didn’t manage to complete yesterday before the day “really begins.” And if you start a day by being “busy,” you often don’t stop until you go to sleep. That’s why, on a day like that, it can be helpful to take 10 minutes to enjoy a delicious breakfast. If you work hard for an hour first, you can often get the day’s toughest task out of the way. Then, while the oatmeal is cooking, you’ll have a moment to focus on your breathing, how you’re feeling today, and what your intentions are for the day. Next, step outside into the morning sun and enjoy a delicious bowl of oatmeal with a sense of satisfaction. You’ll carry that sense of calm with you through everything else on your schedule for the day.

Ingredients: ( serves 2)

  • 80 g rolled oats
  • 400 ml almond milk
  • 2 bananas
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons of cranberries
  • 2 tbsp Skyr

Preparation: (10 minutes of work)

  1. Put the oatmeal in a small saucepan.
  2. Add the milk and turn the heat to high.
  3. In the meantime, mash the bananas.
  4. As soon as the oatmeal starts to simmer, lower the heat and let it simmer for another 2 minutes.
  5. Then remove the oatmeal from the heat and stir in the mashed banana, cinnamon, cranberries, and Skyr.
  6. To achieve the same look as in the photo, sprinkle 12 cranberries on top and a pinch of cinnamon. The rosemary is for those who like it. 🙂

Enjoy your meal!
